Boys of Sondheim is an intimate evening with the music of the greatest musical theatre composer and lyricist, Stephen Sondheim. Set in a modern day apartment t all male cast will showcase some of his best work from musicals such as Company, Follies, Merrily We Roll Along, Sunday in the Park with George, and Sweeney Todd, among others. This production features five Brisbane artists who shatter these scenes in order to expose the soulful, masculine underbelly of Sondheim’s work.
Driving the music and arrangements is one of South-East Queenslands most talented Musical Directors Dominic Woodhead (Frozen, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) The score of the show will both bring to a tear and have you roaring in laughter.
Sondheim is credited with an Academy Award, eight Tony Awards, eight Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize, Laurence Olivier Award and a 2015 Presidential Medal of Freedom, Sondheim’s sweeping repertoire expresses the ache of the metropolitan man; his disappointments, his loves and his secrets.
