Woodward Productions is an independent theatre company producing bold, entertaining, audience-first work across Australia and internationally. Our productions include Plied and Prejudice, The Woman in Black, and A Very Naughty Christmas, with a strong focus on touring, remounts, and commercially successful seasons.
We are seeking an Executive Producer & General Manager to take senior responsibility for the producing, operational, and industrial management of the company.
This is a leadership role for someone who has run shows before, understands the mechanics of professional theatre, and is confident operating at a senior level.
The Role
This is a combined Executive Producer and General Manager role, responsible for the smooth, compliant, and commercially sound delivery of Woodward Productions’ slate of work.
You will work closely with the Company Director to:
Lead the end-to-end delivery of productions
Take ownership of budgets, schedules, contracts, and compliance
Manage industrial frameworks and employment conditions
Ensure the company operates professionally, sustainably, and confidently
Key Responsibilities
Executive Producing
Oversee productions from development through to close
Lead production budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting
Manage touring, remounts, and seasonal programming
Identify and manage risk across productions
General Management
Overall responsibility for day-to-day operations of productions
Manage staffing, contractors, and employment structures
Oversee cashflow, payroll inputs, and financial controls
Build systems that support growth and repeatable success
Industrial & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with the Live Performance Award (LPA)
Manage contracts and conditions under PCA agreements
Advise on engagement structures, classifications, and rates
Act as the internal authority on industrial matters
Leadership & Stakeholders
Lead producers, associate producers, and freelancers
Act as a senior point of contact for venues, presenters, and partners
Support negotiations and key relationships as required
About You
3+ years’ experience in professional producing and/or general management
Direct experience running live theatre productions
Extensive working knowledge of the Live Performance Award and PCA agreements
Confidence managing budgets, contracts, and people
Calm, organised, and highly competent
Comfortable making decisions and being accountable
Trusted by creative teams and respected by stakeholders

Role Details
Salary: Salary - 115k reflecting experience and responsibility.
Status: Full Time
Location: Brisbane office ideally - open to Sydney or Melbourne and touring as required
Start Date: ASAP
